Ten
Reasons Why People Do "Not" Succeed in a
Home Business By Rose Kirkland 1. Taking Action Without Planning When it comes to your goalsand future, impulsiveness is the mother of regret. Considerablethought must be given to the "ends" as well as the "means" ofyour strategy. You MUST have a plan. It is very important thateveryone you work with know that you have a strategy foraccomplishing your goals. If you have a constant stream offamily members interrupting your concentration, focus, and yourplanned "TAKE ACTION TIME" you need to stop them bycommunicating "when" it's okay to interrupt you and "when" itclearly is not a time to be interrupted. This must be in yourplan when you allot time for your work in order to "createresults". 2. Planning Without Taking Action Endless preparation and poorplanning is worse than taking action without a plan. This causesineffectiveness in your work. This is so critical when you wantto accomplish something. Planning in advance provides directionbefore proceeding toward a goal. Accept that things will neverbe perfect. Questions will forever exist. If you are absolutelyNOT 100% clear about your plan--there is a tendency toprocrastinate by not getting started. Jeffrey Combs, trainer inthe home-business industry, says that "people waste time andprocrastinate by just "GETTING READY to "GET READY". Also, waiting until the last minute or putting things off tends tocreate a crisis or may create other problems and these behaviorsaffect other people. In addition, by not doing something you'reprocrastinating about, you'll end up wasting your "precious"time and "TIME" is something that can never be replaced. 3. Unrealistic Timeframes and Expectations Life is a process--notan event. Nothing great was ever built easily. Exercise wisdomand learn to be patient. Unfortunately, most things in life takelonger and cost more than the best-laid plans anticipate. 4. Reasons "WHY" Are Not Clear "WHY" you want to achieve a goalis more important than the goal itself. Before taking action onanything, it is imperative that you ask yourself this keyquestion: "WHY do I want to achieve this goal?" You must knowyour "WHY"! 5. Denial of Reality It's far easier to deny reality than it isto accept it. Too many people take the easy way out by beingafraid to look at the facts about "why" their life may not beworking. Success is information dependent. When we deny reality, for whatever reason, we devalue the integrity of ourinformation, thus ensuring failure. It takes courage to look atour life and see what is not working. 6. Conflicting Values When we have not clarified our reasons"WHY", or defined what success means to us personally, weoperate on someone else's definition and what they want us todo. When that occurs your values are sure to be in conflict andprogress is short-circuited. At this time it is important tovalue your values and what is important to you. Others will notrespect or value you, your values, nor your time if you don'tsend the message that these are important to you. Our 'WHY" andour values must be very clear to ourselves and to others. Therefore, watch your actions, behaviors, and commitments----arethey communicating the right message? 7. Diffusion of Energy-- Attempting to do too much is a recipefor mediocrity Biting off more than you can chew is a primeexample of taking on too much. Not having strong clearboundaries that you set with others is another example. You doNOT need to volunteer to be on every project, organization, committee, or association. It is pertinent you be strong enoughto say, "NO" to those activities that are NOT getting you toyour goal. Rather than doing an excellent job at a few chosengoals we spread our energies over a vast terrain and diffusewhat matters most; time and energy. 8. Lack of Success Demands FOCUS-- for Success to Happen Focusedaction is the hallmark of all truly great people. Your abilityto get and remain focused, or un-focused, perhaps is thedetermining factor for your success. Although we all needrelationships in our lives we must balance our lives between theappropriate time to "work" and the appropriate time to "play".Focused time will produce the results you want. 9. Trying To Do It All Alone Nobody goes through life alone. Weall need the cooperation and assistance of others. Put yourpride and "EGO" aside and learn to ask for help when you needit. Learn to leverage and share knowledge for your own wellbeing as well as for others who are dependent upon yourcooperation. It is also important that you learn to delegatetasks to others (even if it is not up to your standards). 10. Fear of Failure is The "Grand Daddy" of them all Far toomany dreams have suffocated and died because of "fear". Fearresides where knowledge does not exist. The more you know aboutanything the less intimidated that you feel. Replace your fearswith knowledge and watch your performance soar. Feel the fearand do it anyway! Thousands of successful people still havefear; however, they just simply, do NOT allow the fear to stopthem. Say "yes" to a life of SUCCESS!
