A lot of people are curious about what
“Dovemang” means. They say, “that’s a strange name.”
In deed it is.
Here’s how it all came about.
One day, twelve years ago, I was reading “The
Boston Daily Globe”, a hundred plus year old newspaper I bought from
HSN. It was published Tuesday, February 20, 1877. As I write this page it
is 131 years old. An advertisement in it was for a company named DOVE MANUF’G
Comp’y. The “MANUF’G” was short for
“Manufacturing.”
I had an epiphany. Why not drop the “U & F
in the abbreviation for manufacturing, place “DOVE” at the beginning of it
and call my business Dovemang?
For me it stands for, “Peace to All Mankind,
Through God.” (Dove=Peace) (Man=Mankind) (G=God).
Since I put “God” in everything I do, I wanted
to put a subtle reminder of him in my dba (doing business as). Just to keep
me on the straight and narrow. Hence, the name “Dovemang” was born.
This was when I was in the mail order business.
I came online in 2000 and set up my own domain in 2003. And I named my
website Dovemang.com.
So when I put something on my website, it’s
because I think it’s the truth. If I find out later it isn’t, It’s gone!
I don’t press my religious beliefs on anyone,
but if you can look at the universe and still say you don’t believe there
is a God, I’m sorry, You are a fool, and a Big one at that.
I don’t like to do anything that might shake him
up. So when planning my website, I decided to take a No BS approach to
running it. Sure I want to make money, but not at your expense. Like I
said, we’ve been online since 2003 and I’ve turned down many offers that
could have made me a lot of money, but because I felt they were unethical I
turned them down. I have no regrets.
One thing’s for sure; you have to be mighty
careful about which affiliate programs you join. Thousands of new affiliate programs are introduced to the
market every day. We all get them…
Emails promising we can make thousands of
dollars by following their plan.
Some people scare you to death so they can sell you something you
don't need.
That’s why we investigate each affiliate program
we offer. I want to save you as much pain as possible. When I was new to the web, It was easy
for me to be suckered in. Just tell
me I could make thousands of dollars a month and I was in there.
First of all, no one is going to give you
anything. I want to make that perfectly clear. No one is going to give you one red cent. You have to do some work. I’m not
talking about a free ebook, or piece of software here and there.
If you don't know what an affiliate program is,
I'll give it to you straight.
An affiliate program is set up by the producer
to make them money. They need
your help to get the word out about their offer.
And they are willing to pay
you quite handsomely if you will do just that.
It's a win-win proposition. You make money by
referring people to their
website.
You are usually provided different types of
advertising copy, such as
emails, classified ads, banners and examples of
pay-per-click advertising
copy to use in your marketing.
You will be given an affiliate link that is unique
only to you. When someone
clicks on this link, or website url and goes to
the website and makes a purchase you
will be paid a commission for sending them to
the website. Each company
will have a set commission you agree to when you
join their program. All
affiliate links are tracked by software, so the
company knows what affiliate
sent them the prospect, or buyer. That’s all you
do. They take care of everything else.
Including customer service.
Even if you join a great affiliate program, if your
target market isn’t interested…
Forget about it. You’re not going to make one
sale.
I’m not trying to scare you into throwing your
hands up in the air and saying I quit. Or that making a living online is
useless and only those with great financial resources can really succeed
because they’ve bought all the how-to-programs, got loads of cash to spend
on Google Adwords advertising and other pay-per-click marketing. And they
all know somebody. Some big name guru whose coat tail they can ride on.
But I think it’s time someone told you the
truth.
There are some real low life scum bags out there
who make their millions off of you and me.
They all tell us to buy their program because they are going
to tell us the “secret” they used to amass their millions, so we can do the
same.
Don’t believe them.
They will never tell you everything they
do to make their money. Why?
Because you would become their competitor. They’re not stupid…
With that said, I want to express the fact that
there are some very good affiliate programs.
No. They are not going to tell you everything
they have learned. But you can get a wealth of information from their
teachings. And if you’re smart. You will devour it. And in time, you will
be like one of those gurus making a living online. Because the truth of it really is, there
are no secrets. Just
strategies.
Good marketing techniques gets the prospect
curious about your offer. What better way than to say I have a “Secret.”
To put the right strategy in place does take some
knowledge. So it only makes sense
to spend some money learning some of these strategies to help you make more
money, but be selective.
